Scar and fascial therapy

Targeted assessment and treatment of scars, tissue tension and restricted tissue mobility.

Is this right for me?

Different scars need different approaches.

A tight or painful scarA pulling sensation, sensitivity or restricted movement.

After the wound has fully closed, targeted tissue and movement techniques can support tissue mobility and how your body feels.

Adherent or hardened tissuesRestricted glide between the skin, subcutaneous tissue and deeper layers.

The findings and stage of healing determine whether mobilisation, fascial and tissue techniques or exercises are appropriate.

Hypertrophic scarA thickened, raised scar within the original wound area.

The scar is clinically assessed. Depending on the situation, conservative measures can be discussed and medical or dermatological assessment recommended if needed.

Keloid or unusual scar healingScar tissue that grows beyond the original wound area.

Keloids require a medical diagnosis and often interdisciplinary treatment. Manual treatment is not automatically appropriate; risks, maturity and medical options are clarified first.

Open wounds, signs of infection or unexplained skin changes are not treated manually and require medical assessment.

Your treatment

More about your treatment.

Scars are more than visible lines.

A scar consists of newly formed connective tissue. The skin and underlying tissue layers may glide less freely as a result. Fascia consists of layers of connective tissue that surround and connect structures such as muscles.

I assess scar maturity, sensitivity and mobility. With carefully dosed tissue mobilisation, pressure and stretching techniques, I work on the scar and surrounding tissue. Movement and self-care exercises complement treatment. Local scar work begins only after full wound closure and when the tissue can tolerate it. It can form part of lymphological care or be provided separately.

How does treatment work?

Working respectfully with the healing process.

01

Assess

Review the operation, wound healing, scar, tissues and function.

02

Adapt intensity

Select appropriate manual and functional techniques.

03

Integrate

Guide movement, skin care and self-treatment.

04

Review

Reassess tissue response, symptoms and mobility.

Potential benefits

More mobility and greater tissue comfort.

Depending on the scar, treatment can reduce tension and sensitivity, support tissue glide and functional movement, and establish safe self-treatment.
